I painted this as a birthday present for my boyfriend. We have plans that when we grow up and become wealthy through our respectable talents, we'll build our selves a weathered castle on a desolate hillside overlooking a large metropolis. If such a plot of land actuallyexists anywhere on earth, please let me know.
There's an obvious homage to the classic Tim Burton laterals. There's a lot I'd like to fix about this painting but it was one of my very first oil paintings so I don't want to taint it.
Also, this picture doesn't show the whole painting but in the full view of it, the colors are all screwed up.
You've got to love curly architecture. The colors are quite nice but I want to see a deep blue in there somewhere. Like mixed in with the black or something. I understand it's hard to criticize something you yourself find many flaws in, so I'll leave it at that.
Maybe you could do a follow-up piece.

Other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?
Seriously reminds me of The Nightmare Before Christmas. I love the black on red (two of my favorite colors) and the shape of the buildings. You should have put a curly hill in the background!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
